About Michael
Michael Pryor joined Hampstead Renovations in 2018 as Head of Structural Engineering, bringing 12 years of experience from a mid-size London structural consultancy where he specialised in residential extension and basement projects across Kensington, Chelsea, Belgravia and the Camden conservation areas.
He holds an MEng in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London and is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE) and a Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered with the Engineering Council. He has designed structural schemes for over 80 projects across London, including complex multi-level basement excavations, stacked extension steelwork, chimney breast removal packages, and sensitive underpinning of Grade II listed terraced properties.
Michael's in-house role at Hampstead Renovations — rather than the usual consultant relationship — means structural design begins in the architectural concept phase rather than after planning consent. This integration consistently leads to faster construction programmes, reduced variation costs, and more inventive structural solutions.
He leads all party wall work, Building Control submissions, and structural monitoring. He maintains professional indemnity insurance to £10M and has production responsibility for all structural calculations, specifications and drawings issued by the firm.
