Our client ran a growing consultancy business from a cramped home study. With two young children and a busy household, the lack of a quiet, professional workspace was becoming a real constraint on productivity. The double garage — used mainly for storage — presented the obvious opportunity. The brief was to create a proper office environment: a main workspace for up to four people, a separate meeting room for client calls, a kitchenette, and a shower room so the space could be used for early starts and late finishes without needing to enter the main house.
The interior was designed to feel like a proper workplace rather than a converted outbuilding. Clean, modern lines, acoustic ceiling tiles to manage sound within the open workspace, and bespoke fitted desk units along two walls give the space a professional character. The meeting room features a wall-mounted display screen, a small round table for four, and acoustic panels on three walls.
Planting and timber cladding to the external facade was incorporated to soften the building's appearance and better integrate it with the garden landscape.
The client was delighted with the result. What was a cluttered garage is now a productive, comfortable workplace that genuinely supports the business.
