Project Brief

Our client, an architect-owner, acquired this De Beauvoir Town townhouse with a specific vision: strip it back entirely and rebuild the interior around a strict minimalist ethos. The brief demanded exceptional craftsmanship — every surface, joint, and detail would be visible and must be executed to the highest standard. There was no room for compromise.

The existing interior was a mix of poorly executed 1980s and 1990s works with unevenly rendered walls, mismatched joinery, and a disorganised floor plan. The mandate was to restore the Victorian bones of the building while filling it with a contemporary, restrained interior language.

Craft & Execution

Working to minimalist specifications demands a different approach to site management. Tolerances are tighter. Tradespeople must coordinate more closely. Our on-site project manager held weekly design reviews with the client-architect to ensure every element remained true to the design intent as the build evolved.

The flush-jointed concrete panels in the kitchen — poured in-situ in a single day — required a specialist subcontractor and significant pre-pour preparation. The result is a seamless, tactile surface that anchors the entire ground floor composition.

Outcome

The completed renovation is a precise, beautifully realised expression of the client's vision. The quality of workmanship across every trade — from the flush-boarded joinery to the perfectly level concrete floor — reflects the commitment of our team to delivering genuine craft at the highest level. The project was completed within 2% of the agreed budget.
