When do I need planning permission?

Planning permission is typically needed for: extensions beyond permitted development limits, new buildings, change of use, listed building alterations, work in conservation areas, and significant external changes. Many improvements fall under permitted development rights.

What is permitted development?

Permitted development allows certain building works without planning permission, subject to limits and conditions. This includes: single-storey rear extensions (up to 4m attached, 3m semi-detached), loft conversions (40-50 cubic meters), and internal alterations.

How long does planning permission take?
